Business Efficiency Can Save Lives

Posted on August 13th, 2019

Employers sometimes think that they are saving more money from not investing for the right moving equipment for their business. Not knowing that they are at risk of greater loss when operating without proper machinery for the business. Injured employees, lost man-hours, damaged products or properties and unsatisfied customers are just some of the many possible problems that might be encountered when a business operates without proper moving equipment.

One of the most common causes of back injuries in the US is unsafe lifting and carrying of heavy loads. Employees often complain about having to carry heavy materials from one place to another just to get their job done. This also often leads to injuries that have many possible effects on the employee, not only to his job but also to his family. Lost wages or worst lost career due to injury, an injury that requires medical treatment that would cost a person his own money. Spending the money for treatment without having an income may lead to depression and depression affects the whole family.

On the side of the business owner, having an injured employee requires to hire an alternative person to do the job. That would cost the business for training and it is expected that the productivity of the business is less when a trainee or a new employee do the job. There is not even a guarantee that a replacement would be found immediately when an employee gets injured, which would mean even less if not totally no productivity. Employees’ safety is also a liability of the business owner. Therefore, an injured employee should expect assistance from the employer which would definitely mean an expense on the business.

Other than an injured employee, damaged equipment, product or property can also be encountered by a business who operates with no proper moving equipment. Accidental or uncontrolled sudden drop of products or equipment that is being delivered often causes damage to the item or property. Who would be happy on instead of having their safe or vault installed, ended up having a broken tile floor or damaged door frame?

Unsatisfied customer. It is critical for all business of any industry to always deliver the best customer satisfaction whether it is a product or service they are offering. An unsatisfied customer may be influential to his family and friends who are potential future customers that the business can possibly lose.  Never in the history of customer service that an unsatisfied promoted the service or product that caused them frustration so it is important to avoid any accident that can be caused by bot having proper moving equipment especially if your business involves transporting or moving heavy furniture, vending machines, drums or kegs, copiers, safes, woodstoves, and the likes.

Handtrucks2go offers a wide range of kinds, types, variety, and capacity of hand trucks and moving equipment. You can also customize a hand truck that best fits your needs. Here at Handtrucks2go, you can always Count on Us to Keep You Rolling!

NYC Man Crushed By Safe

Posted on July 2nd, 2019

Foxnews reports a Manhattan man was crushed while moving a safe in New York City. According to the report the man was crushed and killed by a giant safe on Sunday while attempting to move the 600-plus pound equipment in Lower Manhattan.

The unidentified man and two friends were trying to get the large safe down a flight of stairs at 76 Mott Street at around 4:30 p.m. when they lost control, according to law enforcement sources. The safe, which weighed between 600 and 800 pounds, slid down the stairs and pinned the man against the wall of the stairwell. He was moving it down from the fourth floor when the tragedy happened.

Accidents can and do happen but we must do all we can to prevent them. Having the correct equipment and know-how is of essential importance when moving any heavy load.

For this unfortunate man it is too late, but for others please consider getting an electric stair climber hand truck that is designed to assist you while moving safes and other heavy loads. Are they cheap? No. But most definitely cheaper than a human life!

The Best Way To Move Your Piano

Posted on April 13th, 2019

Moving a piano or any large item for that matter can be very difficult requiring much needed time, planning and effort especially when you’re doing it alone. As a matter of fact, many people would call for professional services that solely specialize in moving and storage in order to deal with this strenuous and seriously draining task. Despite that, moving a piano on your own is definitely not impossible especially if you do it right with the right equipment for the job. Keep in mind that a typical piano can weigh as much as 300 lbs while a grand piano can also reach up to 1,000 lbs or more. Do not fret, as mentioned earlier if you do it right this won’t be a problem. The following are the recommended guidelines to properly move a piano.

Ask for AssistanceNever be embarrassed to ask for help since your safety is your number one priority. As the saying goes “The more the merrier” which in this case won’t make things merry but will definitely make things a whole lot easier. First and foremost you should always ask for help especially when you’re still new at the job. In fact, if you’re not confident enough you can always call or talk to moving companies or professional movers.

Wear Proper Attire. Just like any other activity that requires physical labor, you should wear something loose and comfortable since you will need to move around a lot so flexibility is key. Keep in mind that if your clothes are too loose this might get tangled or stuck around sharp corners or edges. Aside from that, the footwear matters so wear work boots (preferably steel-toed) or if anything else athletic shoes that have a decent grip to the ground so that you remain stable throughout the duration of the task. If you’re not used to lifting and transporting heavy objects, use working or rubber gloves to help improve grip and pain in your hands. Don’t forget to remove unnecessary accessories that hinder your work such as, bracelets, watches, rings, necklaces and so on since this may tangle-up or even damage both your accessories and your piano.

Plan Ahead. In everything you do, you should always plan ahead to minimize casualties and maximize efficiency. Although this is sometimes easier said than done if you don’t know what you’re doing. You should have a good understanding of the piano/s you are moving. This means that you should know the dimensions/size, key mechanisms, movable parts, sensitive areas, construction material and so on. These details will dictate how you can effectively move the piano without causing any damages during travels and lifting. In relation to that, by measuring the dimensions of the piano you can plan your route and map in your head where you can safely and effortlessly take your piano from point A to B. This may require you to utilize measuring tapes to measure the piano itself, doorways, hallways, and staircases.

Protect the Piano. Since it takes too much resources, time and energy to wrap the whole piano with protective layers, it is important to know the key components of your piano so that you can dedicate your time in wrapping those areas with packaging tape, padding, cardboard and/or special moving blankets. The things to look out for as follows: Always lockdown the spinet and keep the keyboard lid closed and locked when moving since the keys are fragile and should therefore be protected. Make sure that the corners and the bottom portion of the piano are covered and wrapped since these are usually the contact points when transporting the piano. Keep in mind that you should not apply tape directly on wooden surfaces since this may damage it.

Choosing the Right Equipment. Now that everything is ready and all set to go, the only thing left to do is lift and move the piano. With some help, you and your co-movers can surely carry it manually with your bare hands but why spend all that time, energy and effort when you can use specialize piano dollies that are mainly designed for effectively and safely carrying pianos. With these dollies, it is possible to move pianos single-handedly without pouring much effort into it. Thankfully, Handtrucks2go has numerous piano dollies to choose from all having different features so make sure to choose one that best fits your needs. In addition to that, the Escalera  Automatic Stair Climber is one of Handtrucks2go’s best and widely used piano dolly since it comes with multiple options making it a multi-purpose dolly and is ergonomically designed to move pianos along stairs and hallways with ease. If you’re planning to move a larger sized piano or a grand piano, you can also select from a wide variety of grand piano dollies from Handtrucks2go. Even without prior knowledge on how to use these dollies, these material handling equipment are fairly easy to use and provide you with a safer as well as an easier alternative to bare-handedly carrying the piano.

Cut Your 2017 Income Taxes

Posted on December 25th, 2017

There’s still time left for you to cut you 2017 tax bills.

The conventional tax wisdom at the end of the year is to pull in deductions to offset current tax liability and push off income to postpone tax payment. This takes on added significance in 2017 with enactment of the new tax reform law, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

Because the bill, just signed into law by President Trump on Friday, December 22, cuts individual tax rates and eliminates or scales back most itemized deductions in 2018, many taxpayers have even more tax incentive to follow the traditional pull-and-push strategy.

See more at CPAPracticeadvisor.

According to Marketwatch “Most individuals will benefit from year-end planning moves that push income into next year and pull deductions into this year.”

For all those who would like to cash in on these saving by purchasing moving equipment at Handtrucks2go, make sure to place your orders before 12 AM on 12/31/2017, in order to make sure that the transaction will post in 2017.

Wishing all of our customers a Happy 2018!

The Handtrucks2go Team.
